Newcomer Council

The Toronto South Newcomer Council provides an opportunity for newcomers in the Toronto South LIP catchment area to provide input and feedback on our Settlement Strategy and Action Plan projects. Council members meet on a bi-monthly basis to address newcomer issues emerging in our community and take up projects aimed at making Toronto South a more welcoming place for all.

Current Projects

Trainings and discussions on how newcomers can be involved in anti-racism work, the meaning of allyship, and the responsibility allies bear to counteract racism in our society and create a truly welcoming community.

Involvement in policy analysis and consultations to ensure that newcomer voices are reflected at Toronto South Local Immigration Project and other decision making tables.

Outreach to the broader newcomer community to consult, inform, and engage.
